A true gentleman is always dressed appropriately for his age. Does everyone have their own style of dressing? And do you consider your years?
If you are 20 years old, everything is allowed: denim jeans, skinny trousers, sloppy trousers, button down shirts, ball caps, flat caps, sweaters, Nike’, suits. Just everything. However, there are some tips to follow to become the best dressed young man at College or University. Simplicity is the most important. Many young men who decide to dress in style often resort to fashionable and expensive clothes that are much more formal than anything they have in their wardrobe. This is the wrong approach. The result is a lot of money spent on clothes that are fundamentally different from those you have in your wardrobe and which can not be combined with them. When you go to a new clothes market, the first thing to keep in mind is your surroundings and the clothes you already have. Most likely they fit perfectly and that's why you are comfortable. When you choose new clothes, your goal will be to improve rather than replace your wardrobe. Look for basic things that are just a little higher than those you already have. Back suit is hackneyed. Choose grey or navy one. Combine with a stylish wallet and watch. Never mix business clothes with informal clothes.
If you are already in your thirties, it is time to grow up. Start to dress up like a settled-down man. Leave the button down for the weekend barbecues. Focus on elegant and stylish shirts, suits and sweaters. Textural components of your outfit now are more important than the visual ones. Leave knit ties and bold colors in the past. Bold colors are allowed only for the pops to show that you are still young. However, it is the time to add charcoal and gray to your colors. A repp tie and a blazer are your new friends as well as the suit. Forget about the short sleeve shirt. Only Charlie Sheen in “Two Men and a Half” can afford it. Leave the jeans with a dropped waist for the teenagers. Forget about the t-shirts with witty inscriptions as well as the slippers or crocs. Thirties is the right time to start to build your stylish shoe collection. Classic men shoes should replace sneakers. Do not wear the same shoes every day. You need at least 5 types of shoes to be elegant in every case and season.
Forty to fifty. Of course, you are still young. This is the most comfortable and the most stylish age. Take advantage of this and update your wardrobe by sticking to classics. Do not change dramatically your wardrobe. Just add a slight note of formality. Classic colors lie gray and navy are more appropriate for you than bold colors like pink, green, or yellow. However, odd combinations are great. Wear your navy pants with grey suit jacket. But remember! Sweaters can age you, so leave them for the younger guys. Chose vertical stripe shirts to elongate your body. It is time for more versatile accessories.
Stick to the same rules when you turn your sixties. Life is yet to begin.
